Cosmetic and Therapeutic Injectables

Cosmetic and Therapeutic Injectables

A smile involves more than just the teeth, it also includes the soft tissues of the face that frame the smile. Dr Lina Okada has over 8 years’ experience offering anti-wrinkle injectables and focuses on providing her patients with a fresh and natural appearance.

Whenever you make a facial movement like squinting, smiling, or frowning, your facial muscles contract and the skin on top of those muscles’ creases. These creases are called dynamic wrinkles as they tend to disappear when the facial movement stops. As we age, we lose elasticity in our skin and those creases begin to deepen and become more permanent.

Here at Alcaston we use Dysport (approved by the FDA in 2009), like Botox, is a form of botulinum toxin injected into the skin to temporarily relax the muscles that cause ‘frown lines ‘.

Yes. Dysport is a non-surgical treatment that can be done following most dental procedures. Just let reception know at the time of booking and allow an extra 15-30minutes after your scheduled dental appointment.

Like Botox, the affects of Dysport are temporary. For most people, injections start to wear off 3-4months post treatment. When the treatment starts to wear off, you will notice more and more movement of your facial expressions and creases. It is recommended that a ‘top up’ treatment is followed up every 3-5months.

Dysport injections limit the movements of some muscles. Other muscles maintain a full range of motion so you will still be able to express yourself without that “frozen” look.

Facial injectables may not be suitable for everyone and may not be the most appropriate treatment to address your concern, so a consultation with your dentist is always recommended.
